Instead of thinking that, as Svāmī resides in temples, it is enough if we think of Him when we go to the temple, keeping Him in our thoughts every moment, without wasting even a second of our time, as stated in, यमस्य करुणा नास्ति कर्तव्यं हरिकीर्तनम्॥ (yamasya karuṇā nāsti kartavyaṃ harikīrtanam — Yama, the god of death, shows no mercy; therefore, one must engage in the chanting of Hari’s name) नाहं वसामि वैकुण्ठे न योगि हृदये रवौ । मद्भक्ता यत्र गायन्ति (nāhaṃ vasāmi vaikuṇṭhe na yogi hṛdaye ravau | madbhaktā yatra gāyanti — I do not reside in Vaikuṇṭha, nor in the hearts of yogis, nor even in the sun. I reside wherever my devotees sing my name. Thus, our bhūmi has nurtured such a close connection with Bhagavān, with Svāmī, and bhakti. All relationships, all rights, all ownership ultimately belong to Bhagavān. With the Īśvara‑arpaṇa‑buddhi, whether one performs even a small act like sandhyāvandanam, or fulfills one’s daily duties, or performs elaborate rituals, everything is offered with: तत्सत् ब्रह्मार्पणमस्तु । कायेन वाचा मनसेन्द्रियैर्वा (tatsat brahmārpaṇamastu | kāyena vācā manasendriyairvā — May all this be an offering to Brahman; whatever I do with body, speech, mind, or senses is surrendered). Thus, samarpaṇa is pradhāna (primary) in life. In such a life, the laukika (worldly) aspect is only one aṅgam (part); it is not pradhāna. Today, it may appear that vaidikam is only an aṅgam and the laukikam is pradhāna. However, according to our śāstra saṃpradāya, vaidikam is pradhāna, and laukikam is only an aṅgam, something that comes and goes, not pradhāna. Therefore, the lifestyle of people in other deśās is fundamentally different from the lifestyle of people in our deśā. Here, with life centered around Īśvara, mantras, japa, dāna, dharma, and priyam, the mode of thinking is very different. Understanding such a way of life has become very necessary for people today. In this deśā, using musical instruments every year during the month of Mārgazhi, they sing Tiruppāvai, such as மார்கழி திங்கள் மதி நிறைந்த நன்னாளாம் (Mārgazhi thingal madhi niraindha nannālāl - on the full moon day of Mārgazhi) and Tiruvempāvai bhajans, chant Tiruvadiyē śaraṇam, and spread bhakti through both Vaishnavam and Shaivam. To spread bhakti and protect small traditional crafts, when our Mahā Periyavā was camping in Kalavai, He instructed the village artisans and others to prepare the mridangam, to bring the tāḷams, and to make the cappaḷākkaṭṭai (wooden clappers). Our culture is very superior. To spread such a great culture, harmonium—harmony—is necessary today. Peace is essential. The harmonium nurtures divine bhakti and helps to maintain proper tāḷam (rhythm) in villages. Even though there are many different communities, Hindu samayam is the same for all, and it is a tradition that unites everyone. One interpretation of Viśvarūpa is that it is a rūpam (form) that inspires wonder. Looking at the world through the Vedās, as in मित्रस्य चक्षुषा समीक्षामहे (mitrasya cakṣuṣā samīkṣāmahe —May we all look upon each other with the eye of a friend), you now have the opportunity to perform kaiṅkaryam in this world with a noble vision, priyam, and bhakti śraddhā. Today’s upadeśa is the Bhagavad Gītā. That is why Svāmī is called the Jagadguru.वसुदेवसुतं देवं कंसचाणूरमर्दनम् । देवकीपरमानन्दं कृष्णं वन्दे जगद्गुरुम् ॥(vasudevasutaṃ devaṃ kaṃsacāṇūramardanam | devakīparamānandaṃ kṛṣṇaṃ vande jagadgurum ||) (I bow to Lord Kṛṣṇa, the son of Vasudevā, the divine one who destroyed Kaṁsa and Cāṇūra, the supreme joy of Devakī, and the Guru of the universe). Thus, the verse declares that He is not merely an avatāra, nor did He manifest to perform saṃhāra. Today, all of you have received the anugraham of the Bhagavān, who bestowed upon us the Bhagavad Gītā upadeśa and Viśvarūpa darśanam as stated in सौम्यवपुर्महात्मा (saumya-vapur mahātmā - the gentle-bodied great soul), तेनैव रूपेण चतुर्भुजेन (tenaiva rūpeṇa chatur-bhujena - in that same four-armed form) by receiving Bhagavad Gītā upadeśa through the Guru and attained honor in your lives. Yogam has gained loka prasiddhi (fame). Ācāryā has stated that we need the yoga śāstrās. Even if His upadeśa (spiritual instructions) was Advaita jñāna, in the (Brahma) sūtra - एतेन योगः प्रत्युक्तः (etena yogaḥ pratyuktaḥ; by this yogā philosophy is also refuted)- nonetheless, it is established that we need the yoga śāstrās, as they help with ekāgratā (concentration) of the manas. Cittaśuddhi (purity of mind) is acquired through ekāgratā; Advaita jñāna is attained through cittaśuddhi. Therefore, it (yogā) has been helpful to us for paramparās. That is, direct advantages are one thing, just as there are direct and indirect taxes; in that sense, jñāna provides direct benefits. To obtain that jñāna, we need cittaśuddhi. To gain that cittaśuddhi, yogā, āsana, dhyānā, and prānāyāma are necessary. Ācārya said that we welcome anything that does not contradict our principles.Therefore: येन तु अंशे न विरुध्यते तेन तै योगः सावकाशत्वम् । इष्टमेव। (yena tu aṃśe na virudhyate tena tai yogaḥ sāvakāśatvam। iṣṭameva ।— Whatever aspect does not oppose our goal may be accepted; that alone is desirable). Thus, our Dharmā accommodates everyone.
