The main purpose of this yatri nivas is to spread awareness about Mahendramangalam, about 15 kms from Nagainallur. Pujyasri Jagadguru Sri Chandrashekahrendra Saraswathi Shankaracrya Swamigal had stayed in the attic of the K.S.T. farm house in Mahendramangalam graamam, Tiruchirappalli from 1908 to 1912 for veda adhyayanam. At the nearby Sankara Matam(temple)on the banks of Kaveri, the Kanchi Mahaswami is worshipped along with seventy Peethadhipathis of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. During the time when Mahaswami stayed here, the Jagadguru established this temple with nithya poojai for Sri Adi Sankara Bhagavadpada. Vigraham of Sri Kanchi Paramacharya is also worshipped alongside Sri Adi Sankara.

Bhaktas may stay at Sri Kamakoti Krupa Yatri Nivas to visit several ancient kovils in the area, Kaveri nadhi, experience pottery making, silambattam, and get a glimpse of rural, graamam life.
